Welcome to the best of Bayside Living
Welcome to the beautiful gateway of Moreton Bay. We know you’ll want to call Wynnum-Manly your new home, but to help you decide, as locals of the area for over 30 years, we’ll share some of our insider knowledge.
From the moment you arrive in the beautiful bayside region, you notice the change in temperature. With a climate which generally offers summer weather for 9 to 10 months of the year, the bayside is regularly 2 degrees cooler than most inner Brisbane suburbs which is attributed to the consistent on-shore cooling breezes. When Queensland humidity comes to play, trust us when we say this is the place to be!
The local folk enjoy a relaxed lifestyle whilst keeping up with the ever-changing landscape of the local precinct. Imagine coming home from a busy day at work and being able to un-wind by talking a stroll along the Wynnum-Manly foreshore. This 5km stretch of shared walking/bike track stretches from Wynnum Creek, passes through the beautiful suburb of Manly and terminates in the sleepy suburb of Lota. The track is enjoyed by those wanting to work on their fitness regime, with the volunteered organised famous Parkrun, starting from the Wynnum Wading Pool every Saturday. Social walkers, dog walkers, and joggers love our tracks, all whilst enjoying the smell of fresh air and witnessing the peaceful waters of Moreton Bay and surrounding Islands. On weekends, the Manly waterfront transforms into the local markets by day, whilst once a month offers a free family outdoor movie at night.
It goes without saying that boat lovers enjoy some of the Southern Hemisphere’s best state of the art facilities at several clubs including The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, East Coast Marina and the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club.
Our little piece of paradise is located 25km from the Brisbane CBD and 19km from the Brisbane Air Port. Quick access to the Port of Brisbane Motorway, M1 and links to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts means travel is kept to a minimum and makes living here a popular choice.
Both Wynnum and Manly precincts offer some of the best dining and social experiences in town. The Waterloo Bay Hotel recently underwent an extensive renovation, which offers restaurant and beer garden dining experiences while providing designated child friendly entertainment. Cedar and Pine and the Bluebottle Wine Bars offer the more intimate settings with some of the best beer, specialty cocktails and tapas going around! A new long- awaited Cinema is currently under construction that will complement the local hangouts and bring further businesses into the area, so watch this space!
Our location also means we are within a short drive to some of Brisbane’s largest shopping centres, including Westfield Carindale and Westfield Garden City.
All popular sports are both played and supported by the locals, young and old. Wynnum/Manly has a proud and loyal following of the Wynnum/Manly Seagulls Rugby League team with its famous association with the great Wally Lewis and many other legends of the game. You’ll find great support of all football codes in the area, with the Wynnum Rugby Bugs and the Wynnum Vikings AFL team. Golf, tennis, lawn bowls and netball are other popular associations located within the Wynnum/Manly area, plus much more.
Our patriotic ways are alive and well. Our local RSL club hosts one of the city’s largest turn outs for the very moving Dawn Service.
Your children have the choice of some of the best schools in Brisbane including the Moreton Bay Girls and Moreton Bay Boys schools, Iona Boys’ College, and some of the best public primary and secondary schools in Brisbane. Access to many other Brisbane Schools via the local train network passes through three water front suburbs and then continues in either direction on the Cleveland/Shorncliffe line to both the Redland City bayside suburbs and to the Brisbane CBD and beyond.
Your health care is in safe hands with the recently built 24 hour emergency and medical centre, “Gundu pa”, along with a plethora of other fine local doctors and medical services that support the area.
Never before has our town experienced a building explosion of new homes and high rise apartments and along with the very fashionable Queenslanders, and pre and post war renovated charmers that dot our tree lined streets the mix of architecture has something for everyone.
